On January 12, 2009 the Heubner Foundation announced that they would be a significant donor to the Central Track Task Force's track project.Cindy Heubner presented a $1,000 check to Central Track Coaches Lane Glick, John Walter, Chris Reffett, and Amanda Shoopman.
This donation came from the remaining money raised during the 2008 Heuby Bowl. Cindy Heubner also announced that the profits from both the 2009 and 2010 Heuby Bowls will go towards the new track that will be built at Central.
The Heuby Bowl was established in memory of Cory Heubner, a student at Central HIgh School, who was tragically taken in a car accident in 2005. The money raised through past Heuby Bowls has been used to build a new weight room and outside restrooms at Central. A percentage of the fundraiser is also used for scholarship funds. The Heuby Bowl is annually set for the first Sunday after Memorial Day, with the date for this year being May 31, 2009.
