FAQs
Q. Will there be food and drink available?
A. Yes. There will be a concession tent and a couple of concession trailers close to the fields. We will have doughnuts and coffee in the morning, grilled food through lunch and the afternoon, and other snacks and drinks available during the day.
Q. May I bring alcohol?
A. No. Alcohol is not permitted at this event or on school grounds.
Q. May I smoke at the tournament?
A. No. Smoking is not allowed on school grounds.
Q. May I bring a cooler?
A. No. Coolers are not allowed on the grounds at Central. The primary reason for this is to ensure that alcohol is not brought to the games.
Q. Is there an admission fee to watch the games?
A. No. Please come and enjoy the games.
Q. Is a coach allowed?
A. Yes and No. For the younger age groups (12 and under), an adult coach is probably needed. In fairness, the teams in Jr. High and older should not have an official coach helping from the sidelines. We encourage positive attitudes from all players and spectators.
Q. Are the referees qualified?
A. Yes. All the referees are either current or past high school or college players or coaches. All the referees go to a training sessions.
Q. Will I receive a trophy?
A. All first place participants will receive a trophy, and all second place participants will receive an award. In addition, awards will be given in top places.
Q. What should I bring?
A. Depending on the weather, umbrellas, sunscreen, lawn chairs, blankets, change of clothes (in case of rain). Bleachers are available on only a few fields. Last year there were a lot of sun burnt participants and spectators. We always hope for good weather, but prepare for the worst.
Q. How do I get to Central?
Turn north off of Highway 24 onto Highway 94.  You will go approximately 2 1/2 miles.  The school is one the east side of the road.  The Junction of Highway 24 and 94 is located between Camp Point and Clayton.
Q.  Why do I need to bring my birth Certificate?
A.  We need proof of age. For participants 16 and over, their drivers license is fine.  For those under 16, we need a birth certificate.
Q. Why do I need a mouth piece?
A.  This is for the player’s protection.  We have seen first hand, young people loose teeth during flag football tournaments.  Each participant will be given one mouthpiece at registration.  If that mouthpiece is lost, the participant will have to purchase another one.  Mouthpieces will be available for sale at the tournament for $1. If a participant is not wearing a mouthpiece, they will not be able to play.
Q. Why do I have to wear a wrist band?
A.  This is to ensure that if someone did not register, they will not be playing on a team.  We will check bands with the registration sheet before each game.
Q. What if one team member is older than the age group of the others?
A.  All team members must be the age of the age group at tournament time. If one or more members of the team are older than the age group, the team must play in the older age group. Example: If the team is registered in the 11 - 12 age group and one team member is 13, the team will be placed in the 13 - 14 age group. The only exception would be in the 30 and over age group where the reverse applies. If a member of the 30 and over team is under 30, they will be placed in the 19 and over age group.
Q. Can younger kids play in the 9 – 10 age group?
A.  No.  Anyone who participates must be at least 9 years old at tournament time.  Last year the youngest age to play was 10.
Q.  Where do I send completed registration forms and entry fee?
A.  Please send or deliver the registration forms and entry to:  Heuby Bowl - c/o Matt Long - CHS Athletic Office -2110 Hwy 94N - Camp Point IL  62320
Make checks payable to Heuby Bowl
Q.  Will we still play if it rains?
A.  Of course!  The only reason the games will be delayed would be because of lightning or too much water on the fields.  If this would happen, the game time would be shortened.
Q.  When and how do I check in?
Check in:  Saturday May 31st from 1 - 3 p.m. at the school
                    Sunday June 1st before the event from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
